Danson House Wedding Photography | Mariana & David's Intimate Micro Wedding
Mariana and David’s wedding at Danson House was a beautiful, heartfelt celebration of love in one of my all-time favourite venues. Not only have I photographed many weddings at this historic Georgian villa, but I also grew up in Bexley and got married here myself. So every time I return to Danson House, it means something extra.
Being just a short walk from home, I’ve captured many celebrations here and when a new enquiry lands for this venue, it always puts a smile on my face.
A Micro Wedding in the Johnston Room
Mariana and David booked my 2-hour micro wedding package, and it was the perfect fit for their intimate celebration. The ceremony took place in the Johnston Room, which holds up to 12 guests. It’s a warm, elegant space that lets in beautiful natural light through its large sash windows, with views overlooking Danson Park.
The Johnston Room has a quiet charm to it, with traditional wood flooring, ornate gold curtains, and classic artwork on the walls. It’s small, but it doesn't feel tight, just intimate in the best way. The light in the room was soft and flattering, making it ideal for wedding photography.
The ceremony itself was short and sweet, but packed with emotion. You could feel the connection between Mariana and David in every look and smile they shared. The chemistry between them was so natural, and it made photographing their vows feel like a true privilege.
Staircase Exit and Group Photos
After the ceremony, the couple made their way down the grand staircase of Danson House for their exit. Although confetti isn’t allowed due to the building’s Grade I listed status, the moment still felt joyful and celebratory.
We stayed on the steps for some relaxed group photos with their closest family and friends a tradition at Danson that always works beautifully with the house as a backdrop.
Portraits in the English Garden
With group shots done, we walked across to The English Garden, which sits directly opposite Danson House. This space is one of my favourite spots in all of Danson Park. Whether it’s spring blossom, summer greenery, or soft autumn tones, the garden always offers a peaceful and picturesque setting for portraits.
We took our time moving through the space, capturing a mix of posed and natural portraits. The garden has so many little pockets of texture and light: flowerbeds, pathways, benches, and views back toward the house that every shoot here ends up feeling a bit different.
A Perfectly Simple Celebration
This was a day focused on love, not spectacle. Mariana and David’s micro wedding was proof that you don’t need a huge guest list or a big venue to make your wedding feel meaningful. All you need is connection, a setting that speaks to you, and time to slow down and enjoy the moment.
Danson House offers exactly that; a calm, elegant space in the heart of Bexley, surrounded by parkland, gardens, and history.
